Several months ago I was approached by Precious Time Photography to photograph a spring photography event at the Short Pump Janie and Jack kid’s clothing store. I was honored to be asked, and of course I said yes. I thought it would be a good experience, a chance to meet some new clients, and some good marketing for my business. All my expectations were exceeded! I met some awesome families, photographed some really cute kids, and handed out so many business cards that I think I need to order some more.
So let me set the scene before you see some of the pictures. My directions for setup were given to me as: a 6′ x 8′ spot in the Janie and Jack store, my studio lighting, white vinyl backdrop, very minimal props, and clients scheduled for 20 minute sessions from 10 am to 6 pm over a two-day period. I had no idea who I would be photographing (age, gender, etc.). Normally I take the first 5-10 minutes of a session to get to know the kids, get them to loosen up a little, and build a rapport with them in hopes of getting lots of smiles. With only 20 minutes for the entire session I had to really work my skills to get these kids to instantly open up to me. Some were easier than others, but I know we got great pictures of every single one of them. All together I photographed 17 families for a total of 24 kids.
Because I have so many cute pictures I am breaking this down into three age brackets. Up first…babies under one year old.
